Over 130 years ago Margarete Steiff combined her zest for life and talent as a seamstress to create a collection of little
pin-cushion felt animals. Inspired by an incident in which President Theodore Roosevelt spared the life of a baby grizzly,
Margarete produced the first Steiff Teddy Bear, since when the company has grown to become the world?s best known
producer of hand-stitched Teddy Bears and Animals. A few Steiff Bears have been known to fetch over £100,000 at auction!
